daveh
My wife and I are in a rut. We really enjoy going to the south for the beaches, snorkeling and such, but inevitably we end up doing pretty much the same thing, Ao Nang -> Phi Phi -> Phuket or Phuket -> Phi Phi -> Ao Nang. We both really like visiting Phi Phi, but would be interested in finding someplace else to visit while south. I'm wondering about beach areas around Trang. It would be a plus if we could see dugongs (if there are any left). Anyone have any good nine night itineraries for the south that would include nice beaches with clear water and beautiful scenery? I've been to Lanta once and was not impressed, but it wasn't during the dry season, so the water was way too choppy. Also, I know they've closed a few sites down for SCUBA diving to give the coral some time alone. Does this ban extend to snorkeling? Are there still places at Similan that are worth visiting? Thanks, Dave.

SamilaSoulSurfer
Hey daveh, there is a long beach strip in Krabi called "Haad-Yow". It's VERY difficult to find but it's secluded and on a very very long strip on the coast of Krabi with calm seas and 350 baht a day bungalows (thai style) if you can manage. Reason it's so inexpensive is because it's all the way off the main highway and is not advertised but worth the trip. Good clean food and the sunset is awe inspiring. Got some photos for you to check it out. You got to either have your own transportation or find some sort of rental taxi to get there. Just say "Haad-Yow" or so it's pronunced. have fun amigo. beautifulthailand99
Khanom is good if a little quiet - a very good 5 star hotel at the end of the beach which was deserted when we got there and got a great rate of 3500 bht a night - apparently owned by a Thai princess. - I did a video of it Can't seem to get the embed to work ! So the link is below

sibelius
Khanom have now days a good selection of hotels and bungalows for all kind of travellers. Start from 400b beach bungalows to 18.000b villas. Good choice for over crowded places like Samui. Beautiful unspoiled nature, nice long and white beaches, pink dolphins, water falls, caves, etc... Feel free to see your self Miki
