Lost Passport?

Featured Replies

hi, im wondering what's the first thing u need to do when you lose ur passport?

contact the embassy? someone told me it is important to keep a photocopy of ur passport. i dont know why, is this true?

thanx...

The first thing you do is report it lost or stolen to police and receive report then got to your embassy withe the report or they WILL NOT TALK TO YOU. Keep a copy or your passport it can and does make thing easier.

Having a copy will make it easier to prove that you actually are who you clame to be. I always have a copie of my passport somewhere. Logically I would inform my embassy about it, but I would also go to the local Police Station and ask there if somebody has found my passport.

When you lose your passport? Don't you mean if?

You may not realize but your passport is most likely the most valuable item in your possession. It is worth a lot to criminals, a friend of mine told me how he was offered $30,000 here in Thailand for his USA passport and another $10,000 if he could get a Visa for Japan in it before handing it over.

People or Tourists are required to carry a copy of there passport in Thailand, not written in stone but a good idea anyway. :)
