Son Coming To Uk With Thai And Uk Passport

Featured Replies

HI,

Just need a bit of info from anybody who has travelled to uk from thailand. My son is coming over with me. We're both travelling from bangkok to uk and then returning to BKK.( without his mum, is that a problem ? )

I guess we will use his thai passport to leave thailand and return to thailand, and to enter and leave the uk, he will use his uk passport. Has anybody had any problems at passport control when doing this, thats the last thing i want.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks....

The procedure for dual nationals is very simple, and my wife and daughter do this every time.

1) When checking in with the airline to leave Thailand, show both passports so they know he is legally in Thailand and will be allowed into the UK.

2) At Thai immigration, show his Thai passport so that they know he is a Thai citizen and so has not overstayed.

3) On arrival in the UK, show UK immigration his British passport.

Obviously for the return journey he does it the other way around.

The important point is that he should always use his Thai passport to enter and leave Thailand and his British passport to enter and leave the UK.

As he is traveling with you, his father, I see no reason for there to be any problems due to his mother not traveling with you.
