2011-03-01 09:53:29 GMT+7 (ICT)

ABU DHABI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES (BNO NEWS) -- Four Americans were killed in an airplane crash in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Sunday night, officials said Monday.

The U.S. Embassy confirmed the death of the four Americans, who were the only people on board the small two-engine McKinnon G21G plane. The plane was headed towards Riyadh, Saudi Arabia before making its way to the U.S.

The aircraft had taken off from the Al Ain International Airport located east of Abu Dhabi, UAE, but it began veering to the left and eventually crashed shortly after take-off at around 8 p.m. local time.

The aircraft is reportedly owned by Addison, Texas-based Triple S. Avaition, which has a branch in Dubai.

The names of the victims have not been released, and investigations are ongoing as the reason of the crash remains uncertain.
