The Finanace Ministry has issued 50-year bonds worth Bt3.5 billion with coupon rate of 4.85 per cent per annum, said Fianance Minister Korn Chatikavanij.

The issuance marks the first of the Kingdom, as its maturity is the longest ever. Thailand is the fourth country to issue 50-year bonds following the United Kingdom, France and China, he added.

The government will issue 50-year bonds again in the thrid and fourth quarters this year, each batch worth between Bt3-Bt4 billion.

The longer-maturity bonds will help set coupon rate benchmarks and deepens the bond market.
