Can Apply For 1 Yr Married Extention Early?

Featured Replies

My current non immigrant ‘supporting Thai wife’ [or what ever they are calling it now] 1 yr extension is due to expire at the end of march and normally the application is sent to BKK from CM and it takes up to a month to return to me in CM for the final stamp. Normally not a problem, but I have a trip out of country planned in early April and my new yearly extension stamp will not be in my passport.

So, should I [or can I] apply for my extension earlier in order to have my new stamp before departing??

And I plan to change my status from single entry to multiple entry……any problems other than the extra cost??

You can try it and normally it is not a problem, but you must be in Thailand to get the final approval of the extension and the extension itself.

Alternatively, you can ask for an extension of stay of 60 days and at the end of that extension apply for a 1 year extension. The 60 day extension is given on the spot and doesn't require financial proof.

Not sure about CM of course, but it all depends on the officer in charge receiving you and the "general officer" above everyone there. As it's not your first extension, and if everything went smooth before, you may try to ask them very nicely to get a quicker answer :) before you have to leave.

(Really funny how quick everything can be done, when you ask very nicely. TiT in a very nice way)
