BASRA, IRAQ (BNO NEWS) -- At least seven people were killed and 18 others were injured on Sunday when a roadside bomb blew up in Iraq's southern city of Basra, Aswat al-Iraq news agency reported.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that the bomb exploded near Maaqal Railway Station in oil-rich Basra, killing 6 persons and wounding 12 others, according to Basra security official Ali Ghanim. According to media reports, the explosion struck a bus carrying passengers.

In a separate incident, at least six persons, including 3 policemen, were injured when an armed man tossed a hand-grenade on a police patrol in central Mosul on Sunday, a security source said.

The source did not give further details, but said that the armed man had escaped to an unknown destination.
