GRANBURY, TEXAS (BNO NEWS) -- Six people were killed and several others were injured on early Sunday morning when a fire broke out at a mobile home in Texas, officials said.

Hood County Fire Marshal Brian Fine said Dispatch received a 911 call at approximately 6.12 a.m. local time about a mobile home fire with multiple people trapped inside. "Arriving units discovered there were three victims outside, suffering [from] burn injuries [and] smoke inhalation," he said.

Fine said two of the injured were airlifted to Parkland Hospital in Dallas while the third victim was taken by ground ambulance to Peter Smith Hospital in Ft. Worth. "At that point, we had information there were possibly six more victims inside the structure," he said.

The Fire Marshal said the double-wide mobile home was fully engulfed in flames, preventing firefighters from entering the home to attempt a rescue operation. At one point, he said, there was information that as many as 10 people could be trapped inside.

"But we felt pretty comfortable with the final six. During the course of the investigation we did discover six fatalities inside the structure and at this point we are not releasing any names," Fine said.

All the victims are believed to be between the ages of 18 and 30, and Fine said their families have been notified. He said that, due to the conditions of the bodies, the Medical Examiner's Office will have to confirm the identities of the victims through dental records.

It was not immediately clear what may have caused the deadly blaze, which happened after the group had held a birthday party at the home on Saturday night. "We always promote, you know, 'don't drink and drive', and that is what they were doing," Fine added.

Two of the three injured victims were already released on Sunday, while the third victims is being kept for observation due to smoke inhalation. He or she is expected to be released on Monday.
