Where To Find Material And Glue To Make A Water Proof Pond Liner?

Featured Replies

As the subject states, I would like to fabricate a waterproof liner for a pond and DIY, because it is a custom fit that I know will get screwed up if I make an order with drawings etc.

If I can find the right material and good adhesive, I'm also considering building an old fashioned water bed. If left in the shade, it would be a great place to chill-out on in the summer and if left in the sun, it would be a great place to warm up on in the winter.......imagine laying on a fat lady's belly.

Any ideas what kind of locally available materials would be strong enough?? and where to get??.

I have just had some pool patches that you can use whilst the pool is still full of water and a batch of special waterproof glue sent from a friend in the UK. If the liner is just for a pond then it doesn't have to be spot on perfect as you are not going to see, notice or be bothered about it.

Let me know if you can't get any decent glue here. ;)

Actually the glue that I used in a pond project in the US was a contact cement that you painted on both serfaces. The material was butyl[sp?] rubber with 2 layers of fabric in the middle and the pond has lasted for more than 20 yrs.......but where to find it here??

Heavy duty vinyl could also be used, but needs a different adhesive or heat welded.

I want a heaver material than the normal swimming pool liner.....
