UK and Pakistan agree on security talks

ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN (BNO NEWS) -- Pakistan and the United Kingdom (UK) on Monday agreed to begin the national security dialogue between the two countries, local media reported.

The UK's National Security Officer Sir Peter Ricketts is currently visiting Pakistan, where he signed the agreement at the country's Foreign Ministry, along with Pakistan's Foreign Affairs Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, the Nation reported.

The British Chief of Defense Staff, Sir David Richards, British High Commissioner Adam Thompson and Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir attended the meeting, which covered several issues such as terrorism, Afghanistan and issues related to South Asia.

During the bilateral talks, the UK delegation and Pakistan also agreed to cooperate and exchange intelligence information to fight terrorism in a meeting between a UK delegation and Interior Minister Rehman Malik.

In addition, the UK assured assistance in Pakistan's law enforcement agencies' capacity building.
