Bronchitis - Do I Need Anti-Biotics

Featured Replies

I've had bronchitis twice before.

In both previous cases I went to the Dr. and used anti-biotics (I believe 4-5 days worth) and they did work.

This was 10 years ago.

Now, I have another case emerging of bronchitis (I do not smoke).

Should I get antibiotics or just let my body fight it off. How long would it take if I don't take anti-biotics for it to go away?

TIA to anyone that can help.

It seems to be going around. I know quite a few people who have had this and it's taking about 10 days to really get rid of it. I went to the hospital and got a shot as well as some meds. Took me about 2 weeks to get rid of everything. I highly recommend stopping by to see the doc. It cost me 1000B. Cheap...and it could be pneumonia...

If there is a persistent fever or one that swings and also a productive cough, best to get checked and have a course of antibiotics.

Your body may be able to fight it off but any infection causes some damage to the delicate structure of the lung which can lead to recurrent infections down the line and intervention with antibiotics at an appropriate time should minimise that.
