Songkran Dates In Different Cities

Featured Replies

I am planning to do some traveling around Songkran time. As far as I know the official dates for Songkran are 13-15 April. I have seen posts that the main dates in Pattaya are 18-19. Are there any other cities with different main dates? Is there a site where this information is easily accessible? Are the dates the same in Laos, Myanmar, and Cambodia?

Pattaya is a resort and stretches this out for that reason, you will see that 16th and 17th is the weekend so be prepared for festiveities to continue. Protect your ears and eyes and get a plastic bag which seals for your valuables, camera, phone etc. If you dont like getting ice cold water over you stay inside in the afternoon! I will NEVER go to Pattaya for this holiday ever again, worst experience ever.

+1 on that, Pattaya is a disaster at Songkran, i always make sure i am out of the country when it happens - hate it!!

The official Songkhran festival is the 13 -15th April - everywhere.

However, different places party on for longer in some areas. Some places, up to a week. (On Koh Samui - 1 day.)

what about hadyai??

I'd like to know if there's any town in Thailand where you don't get soaked at Songkran. Normally I'm out of the country or I stock up with food and DVDs and stay at home.

On the 13th there's a good possibility I'll be taking the bus from Ekkamai station going to the border at Arranya Prathet / Rongklua market at about 4pm. Safe to say no water throwing at Rongklua? I assume they leave the bus travelers alone at Ekkamai as well (?)

13-15 All of Thailand

Bang San in Chonburi has it's traffic jam water festivle 17th every year and Pattaya the 19th.
