March 14, 201115 yr I am looking for some advice on a place to stay and several other places... Me and other guys from school are going to BKK for a short vacation and I am wondering what some fairly inexpensive (5000 THB or less a night) hotels are that are located close to most of the things in Bangkok like MBK and the other Malls. We looked at Emporium Suites, anyone have experience with them? We have found a few on Agoda but we are not sure about them. Second, what are some good places to sell my laptop and ipod touch? I also am looking to buy one of the new Macbook Pro's so can you point out where an Apple store is? Many thanks for any help.
March 14, 201115 yr 5000bt a night the world is your oyster. second... Try ebay. yes Emporium not far from Soi Cowboy or Nana. jb1
March 14, 201115 yr 5000 baht a night hotels? That is alot of money in Thailand for a hotel. You'd be staying very luxurious for that much. Do you mean like 500 baht? or what. If you wanted real cheap accommodations, try Kao San road.
March 14, 201115 yr Author Well we want to stay somewhere nice because we will be there several nights and we want to spend up to 5,000THB. Any suggested accommodations? I want to buy a Macbook Pro in BKK because I do not want to wait for it to be shipped as I need it ASAP for school and my PC is pretty slow. Also, it is suggested to make a reservation before going to BKK or would it be okay just finding a place when we get there? It is not planning ahead but I assume we should be able to find a hotel and if not I have several friends with large houses in BKK.
March 15, 201115 yr How about we move this over to the Bangkok Forum? If you don't get good replies for your MacBook question, I suggest opening a separate thread in this forum, or the Apple forum: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/forum/17-internet-computers-communication-technology/ Topic Moved.
March 15, 201115 yr 5'000 would be enough to get you a standard room at most multinational 5* hotels, stick with what you know. Also, imo you'd be better off buying the Macbook pro before coming, then selling your existing devices once here. It would end up saving you a few nights room charge at the hotel.
March 15, 201115 yr Try Centre Point Apartments on Wireless Road... close to the BTS to get to MBK, walking distance to Sukhumvit/Nana. You should get a 2 bedroom apartment for less that that, so if there are several of you, there is plenty of room to share. Otherwise Chateau De Bangkok around the corner in Soi Ruamrudee. A little tired, but friendly and comfortable. Just two I've had experience with that I'd happily recommend. But you can get plenty of accommodation for way less than that. There's no "Apple Store" here, but there are authorised resellers in Pantip Plaza and most of the major malls and department stores. Don't expect to buy a genuine Apple product any cheaper than your home country though, Apple are expert at controlling their prices, other than the short term currency fluctuation effects. But you should be able to get the 7% VAT Refund when you leave, but ask them to do the paperwork when you buy. Also, if you buy the Mac here, it will haveThai Characters as well as English on the keyboard, so you may find that a little painful. Not so sure about selling you stuff here though... others might have a suggestion, but I'd think it's the worse place to sell that stuff. I agree with a previous poster... eBay. Enjoy Bangkok.
March 15, 201115 yr Also, if you buy the Mac here, it will haveThai Characters as well as English on the keyboard, so you may find that a little painful. Enjoy Bangkok. Not quite true, the shop will provide an English Keyboard, just bought a iMac, my Macbook Pro that I bought 4 years ago also came with the option of an English keyboard, just ask (i used the Apple shop in Siam Discovery for both purchases)
