Getting To Sukhumvit Soi 5

Featured Replies

I'm going to drop off my parents at the Amari Boulevard hotel on Suk soi 5. We're coming from Chaam in the South.

After, we're going up to Saraburi.

Can anyone suggest a route to take so as not to get stuck in the crazy traffic?

Maybe get on the elevated tollway around Bang Mot?

Where would we get off? Din Daeng, perhaps?

Also, where would we get on from soi 5 onto the tollway going North to Saraburi.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated. :jap:

Depends what part of the motorway your on or what direction your going but there's a motoway exit at Soi 1 that will drop you at Sukhumvit about 300m from Soi 5. How to get onto the motorway in the right direction from where you come from I don't know, maybe someone else can help to get you there.

That's also the entrance to the motorway to take you North. You can get to Soi 3 from Soi 5 and then onto Sukhumvit back towards Soi 1 and turn onto the motorway entrance. You want to be heading to the old airport at Don Muang and out to Rangsit to get to Saraburi.

If you don't want to get caught in traffic then consider the time of day you will be traveling.

From the south you're on the Rama II motorway... take the 2nd Expressway to the left after you cross the River, towards Changwatthana.

Follow it north till you get to the Din Daeng/Rama IX/Bang Na sign and veer right. Follow the signs toward Rama IX (toward Suvarnabumi Airport) but don't take the Rama IX, veer left following the Port/Bang Na, Din Daeng signs, then you'll come to a cross over where the two road come together and separate again... veer left to follow the Port/Bang Na signs, then you'll see a Sukhumvit sign. follow the Sukhumvit sign up the ramp to the left, and stay in the very left lane all the way, and you will come out on Sukhumvit North, facing a left turn towards Soi 5.

You have effectively done a loop around 2nd Expressway to the north so you can get onto the 1st Expressway heading south, in the right direction to take the exit. You have to keep your wits about you in the Rama IX - Din Daeng- Port - Bang Na interchange... there's not a lot of time to be in the wrong lane and change your mind.

Check it out on Google Maps. (Use my directions at your own risk... I am working from memory, but I think it's pretty right.)

As for avoiding the traffic... Hahahahahaha!!! Arrive at 5:00 or 6:00am

Good to hear. Glad I didn't end up leading you to up the garden path!
