chuckie
I spend about five months a year in Thailand - work in another country. But, my wife works in Thailand and has a non-imm B visa and WP. She also works for a very cooperative company. So as to avoid visa running all the time (okay, well not ALL the time) - is it possible to piggy back on her visa? I could end up with a Non-Imm O? Has anyone heard of this being done? Want to avoid bringing it up with her employer if it is not possible. Thanks again for all your expert advice! chuckie
Geez, nobody has tried this?! Or, is no one on this board married to working farang!
george
Yes, you can get an extended NON-O on the basis of dependant of your wife. Start with a NON-O from a Thai consulate/Embassy abroad, and just start the process at your loacl Immigration office.
dr_Pat_Pong
and as you travel a lot, get a multiple re-entry permit so as not to void the extension.
dr_Pat_Pong
we are, of course, speaking of a legally married couple ....aren't we ?
Sinclair
chuckie I'm in the same situation as you (well almost, because we are not yet married), but we thought we could get married to make that visa matter easier. But the Immigration officers in Bangkok told us that I could not get a O visa because according to the Thai tradition, it was inconceivable that a wife would work to support her husband! I don't know whether what they said has legal basis or not. But if my g/f and I do get married just for a visa matter, we have to be 100% sure it will work. george
If your legally married wife have a work permit, it definitively works. But as usual, it's up to the Immigration official...
