Amount Of Money You Can Withdraw Per Day?

Hello,

I have a bank account with Siam Commercial bank and I will be going to Bangkok this weekend or next weekend. I want to bring 80,000 THB with me so I have several questions about that...

Are you able to withdraw that amount straight from the bank? (yes, I know it is unwise to carry that much cash around)

Would I be able to just use my ATM card for my larger purchases and hotel rooms and is there a limit to how much we can spend on the ATM card a day? I know we can only withdraw 10,000 from the ATM per day.

Hi Griizley, You can normally set your own limit with the bank by prior arrangement for daily cash withdrawals. This may sound a little simple…..But have you talked to your bank yet?

you can withdraw that amount with the Bank Book and your passport. The ATM card is restricted to 50,000 total per day, but you can only take 20,000 per time.

There is also a limitation of the number of bank notes.

I believe this 20 per withdrawal - relevant when an ATM has run out of 1,000's !!

I don't know where you get the figure of 10,000 THB to withdraw from you SCB account per day

If you request it you can withdraw up to 200,000 THB per day ( 10 transactions @ 20,000 THB ) just go to your home branch and request it

I don't know how to directly pay large purchases using the ATM card, since I just get the correct amount of cash from the nearest SCB ATM and pay it that way, just yesterday I needed 30,000 THB for some tile at Home Pro and went to an SCB ATM machine in Carefour, Pattaya, and got the correct amount in two withdrawals

I never carry so much cash with me due to the fact that SCB ATM's are everywhere

BUT, a word of warning, since in Bangkok you will be out of "province" so you will be charged 20 THB per transaction by SCB

With SCB you can change the limit of how much you can withdraw per day. It is done through the ATM. You need to enter your passport/id number and then you can set the limit up to, I think, 200,000 baht/day. Still, most ATM's can only dispense 20 bank notes per transaction, i.e max 20,000 bath.

Give the teller the card and they swipe it through a machine to read the electronic tape on the back and the money is taken directly from your account.

I do believe you would need your pass book and other information to do the transaction, and then deal with someone with authority when taking out 80,000 baht. But, I see people depositing and withdrawing huge amounts of money all the time, so I know it can be done.

Bangkok Bank is 25,000 per transaction and YOU set the max limit by contacting the bank. other wise the pre set limit is 50,000 baht or two transactions.

Your account must have been setup with 10,000 baht withdrawal limit. As I explained before, you need to stick your ATM card in a SCB ATM, click your way through the settings (I obviously don't know the details off the top of my head, but it's not rocket science, follow the instructions given by the ATM), and you can raise that limit up to, I believe, 200,000 baht. You will be required to enter your passport number (id card if you're Thai) for security.

That would depend on the hotel. I'd suggest you call the hotel and ask them.

This is not correct, you can alter the amount you can withdraw, I have mine set to 100,000 per day from the ATM, you are correct though that you can only do 20,000 at a time so to withdraw 100,000 it takes 5 goes, or just go in the bank with passport and make withdrawal from the account.

No, I don't think you can, I tried before and could not, now I use credit card
