If I want to come for a year what time best to start it meaning wich month. Is teaching english(TEFL course) really my only option? Are there any internet sites for nice appartments the ones I found were all villa's. I was really hoping to leed tourists the guides I had there english sucked but I heard no way thats possible? Any pointers or advice is welcome!!Thanx all in advance! Hoping to hear someting Regards Ran
LivinLOS
Sorry to say but your chances of working legally are slim to none.. English teaching... So you have a degree in English or something closely related ?? Technically you need one for a work permit.. I know the Dutch are normally fluent but being a non native speaker makes that an even bigger uphill struggle.. Apartments are usually done 'on the ground' and hunting the sois.. About the only good person I know for budget accomodation and apartments is Welta http://houseinphuket.com/ Tourist guides is a very restricted profession.. Also its very visible so becomes harder to slip by without work permits.. Work permits requires a company to have 4 thai staff and pay you a wage of about 50k per month costsing 6250 per month in taxes.. They also need 2 mil paid up captial etc thats for each work permit.. Now you can see why its just not cost effective.. Dont want to be a downer but unless you start your own biz here there are very few LEGAL ways of getting by.. Lots of people getting by under the radar but even that is very tough.. Sorry I couldnt be more positive but theres no point in laying false expectations.. Save your money, come here on vacation.. Any pointers or advice is welcome!!ThanxThanks all in advance! Hoping to hear sometingsomething Regards Ran <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Corrections in red. Let me get this straight - you want to come to Phuket to teach english? Seriously though there are almost no jobs available to foreigners in Phuket unless you are highly specialised or have a teaching degree. Also it is one of the most expensive places in Thailand to stay. A great place for a holiday but at 24 you should look at work in nearby asian countries that have less restrictions on work permits and er... maybe stop thinking about TEFL. Guest endure
Tourist guides is a very restricted profession.. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sufficiently restricted to be illegal to anyone apart from Thai citizens.
