Those were the days.
Until quite recently, a muddy pitch was quite acceptable. The change - at least as far as the top flight was concerned - was the formation of the EPL. There were quite defined rules on pitches. Suddenly the Head Groundsman was recognised as being more important than the tea-lady. But back in the day; mad was quite acceptable. Champers has (earlier post) pointed to the Baseball ground mud heap. But being a Londoner, and not often able to travel outside the capital, meant that I saw the worst mud on the London pitches. The big three were; QPR, Charlton and The Bridge. QPR overcame it, as did Luton, with plastic turf. That soon died a death however. Sturdy boots and shin pads were essential wear. A couple of Charlton pics. QPR. What's going on at the Bridge? Away from London it must have been just the same. Here, Leicester are trialing their new soil spiker. Man City, Spurs and Black Cats played on one of the worst pitches ever. The ground, in Hong Kong, was famed for over-watering the playing area. They played in a close-season tournament in 2013 Here, Negredo (Man City forward) tries cooling the blood. As the Flanders and Swann song goes. And the Hippos would be quite at home in this European ground. Next post; snow and ice, and all things nice. -

How do you pay?
At the moment I don't have any payment service on my phone....I don't even have banking information, the reason being that it seems to me that all banking fraud is linked to mobile apps. Sop none of that for me. If I have to make a payment in a store, over the phone etc I use AMEX where I can and VISA (baht account) where they don't. -

I have brought my son in on a NZ passport, because his Thai one was expired, I renewed it at BK was done in half a day, but if I had not he would be an overstayer. I doubt this guy if he is half Thai ever got a Thai passport, it should be done as soon as possible after birth. I heard its very difficult is you leave it to long and try when older, thats what I have heard from many of my wifes Thai friends who never got passports for their sons. -

I just cannot get my mind around the British Labour Party that wants to give the sovereignty of England back to the autocrats in Brussels. It must have something to do with inability of the Labour Party to efficiently manage the country. And then you have posters that want to raise taxes on the poor folks in England and redistribute it to the squatters and those who do not want to work. Sounds like communism to me. -

Thailand's Cashless Leap: Ahead of the Asean Pack by 2028
Whilst cash is still part of the ecosystem I will still use it here, it is more convenient at markets, small purchases and around the village. Where it suits me I will use online or scanning to pay. I’ve never had cash stolen but I have had cards stolen and used in tap and go situations. So with cyber crime netting billions as a previous poster quite cogently pointed out, I don’t accept any argument that cashless is somehow safer for everyone’s money. I don’t think elimination of cash will occur in my lifetime. But following generations may be served by the “don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone line” which seems proverbial in these times. -

They lean towards the bank machine in the shop where are buying whatever and listen for a quick sound indicating their transaction has completed. -

It's cheap. But it is also poor value for money given the shoddiness of the goods, which with some products doesn't matter too much. I aloo hate the fact that the goods often don't match the photo or description in the ads. Try ordering some new toothbrush heads for your electric toothbrush. I sent mine back twice and gave up in the end. Also I changed my phone but kept the same number, and they refused the password? Can I get it back despite numerous attempts at resetting via the website? No, so I stopped using the website because of poor service on top of the shoddy goods. -

To be fair, some applicants will submit valid conversions which are properly inspected and a certificate issued but later the bus owners modify the installation but do not resubmit the vehicle for inspection and recertification. The original certificate will specify the number of cylinders permitted. What I don't understand in todays update is this: Furthermore, some of the gas tanks were installed inside the bus, Unlike trucks where the cylinders are usually racked externally behind the cab, with buses they are installed in the rear of the baggage compartment which is directly under the seating floor. Where would they be installed outside the bus? Has anyone seen external gas cylinders on a 'tour' bus? -

Can't say I have noticed, I tend to focus on the cheeses I regard as good value and taste. MAKRO probably has some blue cheeses, I don't think Stilton is among them. This is a real cheese shop, in St.Andrews, Scotland. You know, the place where golf started. -

Bus Crashes into Pickup Truck, Which Overturns, 10 Injured in Collision: Pathum Thani
Seems many posters can't read, it was a BUS transporting the workers, NOT the Pick Up. Sure about that... - A factory bus collided with a pickup truck (which was ???) carrying construction workers. The bus was a factory bus... not a 'bus from a construction company'. Additionally, construction workers are usually 'transported' in the flat bed of a pickup. .. as usual, the article lacks clarity, I'm not sure how the readership can be 'faulted' for any misinterpretation here.
