Electronics Market

Featured Replies

I heard that in Bangkok there is a market or an entire village that specialises in electronics. The name sound like Baan Mo.

Anyone familiar with it and can give some more info where excactly it is and what to expect.

In fact I'm looking for infrared beams as shown in the picture, but I only want to go for the real thing and that are Aleph's.Will I be able to find them there or anyone info on where to buy them?

Thanks for the links Jdietz,it is clearly Ban Mor,but since I'm not familiar with Bangkok the map will make end up anywhere but the market. Anyone who might have GPS coordinates?

Also anyone who is familiar with the place and knows if infrared beams as shown in the picture are available there or know another place to get them?

Don't know about your infrared beams (whatever they are), but Natthapong Electronics is right at Ban Mor, GPS N13.74673, E100.49667.

Better be ready to walk through the alleys, and be able to describe what you are looking for, preferably in Thai.

Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot for the coordinates Sateev, they will be very useful.

As for the beams,I will just take the picture with me so they can see for themselves.

If someone should know another place where they have them, their reply will be very welcome. These beams are placed on perimeter walls for example and send 2 or 4 infrared signal over 50-100 meter. When the beams are interupted it will send a signal to the alarm central.

Am not sure why one brand name would be "the real thing" but believe most IT malls have home security shops that may have what you want, and if looking for a known brand name would more likely be there than in the markets of Ban Mo. Am quite sure I have passed some such shops in Fortune IT Mall.

Suspect you are aware of the problems using such beams in Thailand may outweigh there usefulness? Lizards are frequent wall visitors as are cats/rats and such.

Thanks for the answer , it confirms in some way what I was afraid of already and it might save me a day of running around at Ban Mo.

You never can eliminate false alarms completely, but should be no problem as they have to interupt at least 2 beams simultaneous and if installed correctly it will have to be a big cat already.

As for the "real thing",there are only a few company's who make this kind of item.Aleph is the most renowned one and originates from Japan. As I said i have sent several emails already to their headquarters and other branches but for some reason I never get a reply.

All the ones sold on Ebay or Alibaba are cheap useless counterfeits based on the Aleph beams and many times even sold under the name Aleph. However you can see the difference from a mile distance.

There is one company who sells the original Alephs under their own brandname and that is Fujiko but I have called their headoffice already but as it is with most company's in Thailand, they have not a clue what I'm talking about even after giving them their own part number.
