Hi

Am now married and have had the legal bit done at the Amphur.

My wife has been to her local Amphur and changed the name on her ID card.

But what about her passport? I am told this takes 2 days to re-issue and time is tight as I want to get the visa application in ASAP. Can we submit documents to the Embassy with the passport in her maiden name - even though she has a new id card?

Thanks very much

Thats quick, 2 days to get the passport surname changed.

Am I correct in thinking that she would still get back her old passport with the corners cut off?????

As I feel this is important, because on her old passport it will have all her old visa stamps and showing trips to and from the UK, and we need this for the Spouse Visa Application.

When my wife changed her name to mine they simply put a stamp in her existing passport; but this was before electronic, biometric passports.

When she subsequently renewed her passport she did get the old one back.

Yes, I can confirm that if your partner hands in their passport at MFA Bangkok (first floor) it takes about 30 minutes to book it in. It then takes 2 days for a new one to be issued in the married name. Also the old one is returned.

Just one other thing to bear in mind.....has your wife already had her TB test done? It's just the name on the passport that she uses to enter the UK must match the name on the TB certificate

Is this correct? She will have both passports and wedding documents to show immigration, and the TB test result also bears her photo - so I would have thought it is pretty clear who the TB test result refers to.

If there is a paper trail linking everything together, i.e. the marriage certificate, then this should be fine.

However, the name on her flight ticket must match the name on her passport.
