Hi Guys,

My Thai Girlfriend and I have recently found out that we are expecting a child. She is not due until October but we have decided that it would be best if she move over to the UK where my work is based.

We have been together a year now and are noth new to the whole migration thing.

Ideally, we want her to have the birth in the UK so we are trying to get the ball rollinjg, so to speak, ASAP.

Can anyone please give me some advice as to what steps we need to take?

I am going over to Thailand in 2 weeks and need to know what I need to bring with me to start things off.

We have been engaged for 6 months.

Any info would be greatly appreciated, such as types of visa's, contact details, whats I need to take over with me, etc.

Many thanks,

Chris

It would depend on which visa you require and your intention. I would presume you wish her to settle so you must either marry in the UK/Thailand.

If you marry in the UK you would require a fiancée visa visa which is basically a 6 month visa which allows you to marry and then apply for a settlement visa which is a 2 year extension.

If you marry in Thailand you immediately receive a 27 month visa which personally is the easiest route as you do not have to apply for further leave to remain which is a further fee.

Further advice :

Can I join my husband, wife, civil partner, fiancé, fiancée or proposed civil partner in the UK?

If you require professional help feel free to contact me, we offer a marriage service also if required.
