Perth man 'innocent' of Thai rape

A 91-year-old man who is charged with raping four young sisters in Thailand has protested his innocence, speaking out for the first time since his arrest eight months ago. Karl Joseph Kraus is accused of luring the girls - one of whom was five when the alleged abuse began - to his home near the northern city of Chiang Mai with chocolates and English lessons. Mr Kraus, who is in Thailand awaiting trial, said yesterday he had spoken out because he believed the Thai authorities were dragging out his case.

"I waited for a long time before I started to complain," he said. "I say 'bring me before a court'. At my age, I just don't have any ambitions or things to do with sex. I can hardly walk any more." Mr Kraus said some of the alleged victims did go to his house with other children and their parents, but they were never alone. The widower said he had been inviting children and their parents to his house in Mae Kue twice a year - on his birthday and at Christmas - for 15 years.

"They came never alone," he wrote in a letter to The West Australian. "It is a custom in Thailand that children go visiting friends with their parents."

Mr Kraus said he was respected in Mae Kue - an expensive estate in Doi Saket district of Chiang Mai - and accused the alleged victims' father of trying to extort money from him. The girls' parents allege their daughters, now aged between eight and 15, were raped at Mr Kraus' home on occasions between December 2009 and last June. Mr Kraus has prostate cancer and said he desperately needed to come to Australia for treatment.

Sure, I can see it: old ugly "farang" geezer to 5-year old Thai kid: "How about some free English lessons?" - Thai kid: "Yes, I really want to better my situation as an underprivileged child and learn English right now instead of playing in the garden..."

BTW, just yesterday I saw that overweight, privileged Attorney General of Thailand (woman with a 1930s hairdo) on visit in Tokyo, saying on NHK TV: Asian people should learn from the situation after tsunami and earthquake, as they 'have unique family values as compared to Europeans'. She then said something like 'we have to foster our Asian values like in the Asian crisis in SE Asia when the people in Thailand suffered tremendesly...' (she was about to shed crocodile tears, judging from her face), '...but we all cared about each other, different from the many homeless people in the western world...' :annoyed: (At that moment I had to switch to another TV channel, cause I probably would have vomitted watching this any longer...) :bah:

Honestly, I felt like watching 1930s TV when Thailand was an ally of Nazi-Germany and militaristic Japan.

Unless he was there in drag with a wig and has added some kilos, I don't think you were watching the Attorney-General of Thailand...

Although anything is possible I really have to wonder about this case. Considering what I saw going on in the Philippines, with the police in on the scam, it wouldn't surprise me if it was extortion. Anything will be tried to squeeze money out of a foreigner and what better way than to start a phoney rape case.

Australian OAP, 90, 'lured four under-age Thai sisters to his house with chocolates and raped them'

A 90-year-old Australian has been arrested and charged with raping four young sisters whom he allegedly lured to his home in Thailand with imported chocolates and English lessons.

One girl was just five when the alleged abuse began. The sisters are now aged between seven and 15.

Some photos showed the elderly man posing naked with other children, and police are trying to identify them and contact their families, Kritapol said.

He said police were investigating if Kraus was part of a pedophilia network, noting many of the pictures were emailed overseas.

I think there is a lot more to this than meets the eye. Besides that he should be having his day in court.

Not to be crass, but I did notice the female police officer as well and she's someone I would love to have escorting me! :licklips:

Regarding this man's situation and the crimes he is accused of...one would hope for a speedy trial in any country, notwithstanding the guilt or innocence of the accused.

If they have pics then it's hard for him to deny anything. I have to say he's a remarkably spry 91 year old man to be chasing pre-school kids around the yard for sanook.

She's completely correct. They do.

So many Asians sacrifice their entire QoL in order to send their wages to their parents/family, even if their parents are in their 40s.

This is certainly unique compared to Europeans.

If I sent money to my mother she'd be quite offended and send it back with an inquiry as to what the hell I was doing. As would most Europeans. After a life of working and working towards retirement she'd be disgusted to be dependent on her children when they should be building their own family. Asia it seems perfectly acceptable for non-elderly parents to drain their adult-children's salary slips.

Different values. Which are better? I'd vote for not being a burden on your children's financial well being due to being a lazy cun_t. :D

Europeans have worked, fought and gone on strike for the system they now have. :)

If the alleged rape occurred in 2009 and he is 91 now and almost unable to walk - at 89 it would be hard to imagine the 'act' being consummated. But if it occurred 15 years ago or so - then it would be a 'maybe'. As he said, let me have my day in court and why would they detain him for 8 months without trial? Nope none of this adds up so far.

Interesting and valid point of view; I have to agree. I would describe myself as middle aged and I am also working towards building up that nest egg for retirement; I think many of us are doing this and feel its our responsibility to be setup for old age. I also have some Thai kids who stay with the ex wife and I can see in my old age I will be supporting them rather than the other way round; I just can't see how they will ever be able to take care of themselves. The irony is that alot of Thai ladies are milking older foreign men who have worked hard all their lives to have a good retirement nest egg. Some of these ladies can offload the wealth very quickly; I think they have no idea how long this wealth has taken to build up.

There is another side to this: in Thailand you inherit your parents debts too. So if you have a low life alcoholic father who borrows money off loan sharks, etc, who then dies, you are left with burden of paying off his debts. I know someone in this position; she is a lovely honest lady but her father is exactly as I describe. She has the burden now of trying to pay off his debts (and he hasn't died yet); simply she has to take of him because he is incapable or refuses to take care of his affairs in a responsible way. One day he will die and she will get all his debts. She hopes to pay them off before they become too large, but whats to stop him doing it again (and again).

Justice delated is justice denied. The system won't take into account his age so he could die before there is a verdict as he is pleading not guilty. He will certainly die before he goes to the appeal and supreme court if that happens. So don't expect any final answers on this one.

What he has paid on bail is 1/4 of the price I know one Thai person paid in compensation to the family of a murdered girl. But that's par for the course.

A paedophile is a paedophile. Give him his day at court. The rape part though two years back; do I smell a rat here? I trust in the Aussies; their findings are less biaised than our local "Men in Brown". Money talks ...........

In closing, well it is impossible to prove a negative whistling.gif

I would feel rather proud to be accused of rape at the age of 91. Perhaps the makers of viagra could sign him up for a testimonial. I'm 75 and have problems with a willing partner (before you ask she is 45  )

I send my Grandma and my Mum money every couple of months as do a hell of a lot of westerners such as fellow Brits, Irish, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Greeks, Russians, the list goes on.

Alot of the Thai's (not all) send back money because their fathers gamble it away or they get knocked up early and hand over the baby to their parents to look after.

Regarding the homelessness I'm sure China and India have two of the highest rates in the world. There are homeless people in the Uk but alot aren't born into it unlike Asia where they were given nothing to start with.

The c..p some of the powerful people come out with here is looking more and more N.Korean every day.

I sure do have to say I smell a rat on this one. 91 years old with prostate cancer still thinking and still capable of have sex,let alone using force to rape 5 young girls in the presence of thier parents. UMM!

I go more on the extortion by the father story 10 times over. And the reason for him still awaiting trial. I'll have a guess and say they are waiting for the old boy to roll over so the authorities can then clean out his bank accounts uncontested and distibute the funds as they see fit..

As for the smoking hot Thai policewomen. I have seen her around quite a bit. She is an English speaker and is always called in when major incidents in Chiang Mai occur involving English speaking foreigners.

ah such a sensitive soul is so rare these days.

I wonder if you understand the effects of old age let alone prostate cancer, have you had a PSA test?

Further there is a difference between "accused of rape" and actual rape.

Would a blind man be proud to be called a "peeping Tom"?

F#*+ Google!! B)Okay, you got me here. :jap:

I forgot what the exact job title was, but it was a hi-so, influential persona working in the Thai government apparatus. Anyway, it gave me (a shocking) inside what those people think about the world outside Thailand/Asia. Or have you ever heard after a natural disaster in the western world (I mean in the last 60 years) what a 'great achievement of the white/Caucasian/European race it was to overcome the catastrophe.. :bah:

It is very funny that a lot of farangs have been crying for respect from the locals when some of them often behave like scumbags. It is delusional to think of themselves as paragons of decency when some foreigners behave like this in Thailand. Just to remind a lot of people on this fourm that most locals don't think highly of farangs when it comes down to their sexual proclivities.
