In order to amend my baby son's birth certificate I have been asked to provide DNA proof that I am the father.

Does anyone know if this service is available in Udon Thani? If so how much is it and how long to wait for the result?

I've been told that such a test would be 20,000 baht in Bangkok, can anyone help please ?

I want to get the test in Isaan rather than Bangkok if possible as baby is still very young to travel to Bangkok.

How about we move this over to the Issan forum? If you don't get traction there, we can move it over to the Bangkok forum or to the Family and Children forum. PM me if you would like to move this in the future.

Best of luck!!!!!

Normally, at a Thai hospital which has been preassigned and approved by whichever country embassy, the cost is around 4,000 baht per person.

But with certified copies and all, the cost might be a little more.

If you are required to have your sample tested and verified and reported in the States, the cost is around 600 usd, all inclusive.

Which means that the approved test site will test and report directly to your chosen embassy and a copy to you directly.

Better check with your embassy first, before proceeding.

Good luck and wish all you and yours  ALLELE matched perfectly, each and everyone, and each and every pair.

According to the U.S. Embassy website, the mother, father, and baby must appear in person to get the baby a U.S. passport (and various documents have to be taken with them). If there is any question about the validity of the American being one of the baby's parents, then the U.S. Embassy will do a DNA test (saliva - they will swab the mouth of the American and the baby). This is not done in every case. The website further states the U.S. Embassy will not accept a DNA test done anywhere else.

If you're an American, then there's your answer. If you're a citizen of another country, then what I wrote will be useless to you.
