PC800
I have a Mac Mini and it came with only 1gig RAM. I have 4gig of RAM (which only 3 will be recognized) ready to go. I have two hands of large thumbs, and the Mini is small. Anyone done this or could recommend someone who could do it reasonably? Thanks in advance. Yes, I have seen the videos and watched them. The whole key is using plastic putty knives so you won't scratch anything. I found someone in Tuk.Com who would do it for a good price, but he's never done it before. That sort of made me wonder. You get what you pay for? Thanks for input. PC800
I got brave 2 days ago, and cracked open the MacMini. I did it all, and put it back together. NOT GOOD. I read online how I could have screwed up and got a good answer....I did not seat the new RAM securely. It's a very concerted effort to get it in snugly. One things plastic will break, but it MUST be in securely, or it won't work. 2nd time opening it was easier, and now it works. My older Mini is supposed allow only 2GB of RAM, but I put in 4, and 3 is recognized. MUCH BETTER. Very happy with the effort.
rice555
Hello PC800, thanks for the update, I also plan to put more RAM in my late-09 2GHz mini. I was going over Mini RAM info online and came across the 123Macmini site, a lot of info there. rice555
samuijimmy
I spent last week searching stores in BKK, for Strontium 2 gb ram DDR 2 to add to my older model Imac.... "No Have"! Was answer everywhere I looked... I have been told that it must be same "brand" as original... or replace both with same brand.... so watch for that! If anyone knows an online shop that might have please post! :jap: If putting in Ram is difficult, try putting in a new hard drive! Following online instructions it was not too hard to do, plus having a neighbour that had done it before... helped!
