Am i being attacked ? I dont understand why the hackers (if its them) erased half my bookmarks ...

I thought router firrewall was enough and did not install any other firewall except the one with windows xp...

Quite paranoid now .. Checking "my documents" "my pictures" incase the did anything there ...

Cheers !!

p.s the other reason of not installing the software firewall is because it killed my bitcomet speed .. i am getting quite a goodspeed without the software firewall...

It's normal for your computer to be scanned by other computers, usually "zombies". It's just hacker programs on compromised computers doing random scans so that they copy themselves to vulnerable computers. If your router has a firewall, you don't have to worry about it.

Computers on the internet get scanned every day, several times a day. As long as you're protected, you can just ignore it.

thats an outbound connection. outbound connection means its coming from

YOUR computer. it looks like its scanning ports in your router.

ive got the same router and ive never seen that one.

ive seen the smurf a couple times. i believe i looked it up and sometimes

udp connections make it think its under a smurf attack.

ide do a virus and spyware scan asap. have you gotten the latest firmware upgrade for the router?

It could also be some newly installed software thats looking for open ports to

transfer data with.

i believe the msft firewall does not provide outbound protection. suppose you

get a trojan that collects your pswds and sends them to a hackers website

for his viewing pleasure

I dumped Firefox and Thunderbird after my mails on file went missing permanently.

not taking the mick, but what would you recomend as an alternative to firefox or thunderbird, would appreciate any advice, Nignoy

im using the latest firefox with outlook for my email and no problems with bookmarks

or missing email and thats with using outlook to pull down my hotmail from the

web plus a pop mail account.

its always a good idea to backup your bookmarks folder just in case because

its real time consuming finding those websites again
