Indonesian Business Visa

Featured Replies

I will be spending a fair bit of time in and out of my Client's Jakarta office as well as jaunts to Surabaya and Balikpapan. Using their 1-time Visa on Arrival will eat 25 bucks a go as well as eat up the passport.

The Clients head office is in KL (registered Malaysian company) with representative office in Jakarta (also in Vietnam and Thailand).

Where best to apply for a 1-year multi-entry business visa... KL or Bangkok? I do not have residence in Malaysia but I am married in Thailand and have a yellow tibian bahn. The Indonesian Embassy Bangkok web site says "nationals without residence permit in Thailand must apply for a visa at Indonesian Embassies or Consulates in their home country." I doubt that they would consider mere marriage and a yellow book as 'residence' but maybe someone here has experience if the rules are hard and fast.

I note that there's no stipulation on Malaysian 'residency' on the Indonesian Embassy KL's website, just the usual letter's of sponsorship, etc. from Malay and Indonesian entities.

Thanks!

If you had multiple 1 year extension to stay in Thailand, you could argue your case that you are indeed a "resident of Thailand". It worked for me for another embassy.

I was told you will get only a one entry Visa, which can then "be converted" to multiple entry in Jakarta.

Good Luck and keep us posted.
