Moving Stuff From Bkk To Chiang Mai - How To?

Featured Replies

I am moving from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. I have about an SUV's worth of stuff to move. What's the best method?

I checked with a rental car company (Budget) who wanted about 3,500 baht per day plus 3,900 for a one-way drop fee in Chiang Mai!

I would like to hire a driver and van but I don't know anyone who can provide this service.

I am asking the forum for suggestions on how to move my stuff. I would strongly prefer to STAY WITH my stuff at all times and not use a package shipping company.

Thanks everyone!

You could try Nim See Seng Transport. This Chiang Mai based transport company runs trucks between Bangkok and Chiang Mai all the time. I don't know the costs but worth enquiring. They have a 'moving' service, but also just do general goods transport that may be cheaper if you can take the stuff to their Bangkok location. You might get more ideas by asking a mod to move this thread to the Chiang Mai forum.

walk up to a parked pickup truck or van with a phone number in the window call the driver and ask him how much to drive a load to Chiang Mai. on my soi there is one every 50 or so meters, often owned by motorcycle taxi guys or their hangers on.

many will do it for a few grand plus gas and a night in a hotel. I have sent stuff and people all over Thailand this way. Most recently i had a friend picked up at the airport with his 2 dogs and driven down south because bangkok air wanted his dogs to fly business class or something equally expensive.
