A Night in the Thai Police Station
Well that's not a provisional licence in the way that we know it - which is for learners. To be able to drive on your own in Thailand, you need to have passed a test. Learners don't actually get a licence. In addition, if I remember correctly, Thailand used to operate a licence exchange scheme - people from certain countries were allowed to have a Thai licence without taking a test provided they held a full licence in their home country subject to passing colour blindness and reaction tests. That was how I obtained my Thai licence. My 5 year Thai licence expired during the Covid period and I haven't bothered renewing it yet because not being resident, I can use my UK licence and I don't want to go though all the palava of getting a residence certificate etc. I am told that when I do renew it, I'll only get a 2 year one at first - so if provisional means learning, will I be considered as being a learner again for the ensuing 2 years? -

AND VOTERS, just what do you expect from having amateurs running your government. The only requirement once Trump was re-elected was MONEY and the power it brings. The Superpacs determine the candidates and IMHO have completely lost it. Trump is trying to force his CONGRESS (while they tremble, afraid to make any move against DJT for which they would not be CHOSEN to be reelected and thus fall off the teat of government sponsored riches). The rest of the world is watching in awe of the FALL of the US and IMHO in the short time I have remaining, I don't think the US public is willing to remove him and his crony amateur RICH guys from their positions of power in our government. I spent many years living and working around the world in some pretty shaky governments and we used to laugh about some of the antics of those "politicians" in power - now the US is worse than any I ever saw IMHO! I worry for the future of my kids and friends. -

Fire Charcoal Kiln Explosion Kills Cattle, Injures 71-Year-Old Farmer

A 71-year-old man in Buriram narrowly escaped with his life after a charcoal kiln exploded in the early hours of the morning of 21 April, sparking a fast-moving blaze that engulfed a cattle pen and killed two cows and an unborn calf. The incident occurred in Moo 3 village, Isan Khet subdistrict, Chalerm Phra Kiat district. Mr. Samphao, the elderly farmer who was still visibly shaken by the event, said he had been making charcoal for over 40 years but had never experienced anything like this. At around 01:30, Mr. Samphao was awoken by what sounded like an explosion outside his house. On inspection, he discovered flames shooting from the charcoal kiln. The fire quickly reached a nearby pile of over 400 hay bales, which then spread rapidly to the cattle pen. Acting on instinct, Mr. Samphao rushed to save the animals. The pen was divided into two sections, one of which housed a heavily pregnant cow and another. Despite his efforts, he was unable to reach that section due to the intense heat and flames, sustaining burns to his back, shoulders, and legs in the process. He did, however, manage to free three other cows from the adjacent pen. The two cows and the unborn calf in the second pen were burned alive. In addition to the loss of livestock, the fire destroyed valuable farming equipment, including a walking tractor and two chainsaws. What baffled Mr. Samphao most was how the kiln could have exploded. He had stopped using it 15 days earlier, regularly dousing it with water, and the area had seen heavy rainfall three times since then. Despite all precautions, the fire still erupted, something he had never encountered in his decades of charcoal production. His daughter, Ms. Saijai, 40, said she rushed to the scene from another house when she realised her father was in danger.
