Hi People, what's the deal with doing a Border Bounce from here ??

I'm normally out of the Country within the 90 days but this time i won't be so need to do a Bounce, is there a Burmese Border locally that it's possible to do this ( on a Tour or even drive myself ) or will i have to go into BKK & do a Bounce from there to Cambodia ??

I have a Non Imm Visa & i need to get another 90 days.

Could i even do it at PKK Immigration maybe, i'm not scheduled to go out of thew Country until Mid June/ appproximately 55 days or do idefinately need to do a Border Bounce somewhere ??

Thanks in advance for your replies..

I did a 90 day Boarder run to Ranong, very easy and simple, 400 baht Long Boat across, the boy looked after me and took me to the Immigration, got the in/put stamp [just 2 very small stamps] then back to Ranong. you need 10 US$ or next to the Thai Immigration they exchange 500 baht for a 10 $ bill, I stayed a few days at Tinadee Spar Hotel

I live 50km North of BKK, I used a Bus Company Rayong Express [has a website] They have 3 Tour Buses running Day and Night.. I went on the VIP one, big bus with just 26 seats, they stopped at H.H.

Maybe an Agent at the Bus Station ?

Edit: I booked the VIP Bus 6 days before going, was just 3 seats left.

Thank you, the more i've looked at it the more i'm siding wwith the idea of driving myself to Ranong & doing it all in one quick hit..

Anyone been to the Andaman Club recently & have any " must do's " or the like ??

The Andaman club is the best option IMO, about 20 minutes on the ferry to cross and once there you have the option of having something to eat[nice food] or just waiting for the next boat back which is around 45 minutes from when you arrive.

From memory it's 800 baht which includes your $10 visa fee.

The whole trip if you are driving yourself from HH can be done in less than 11 hours there and back.

There is also the minibus option which is 2500 baht which includes everything, have done this before and i wouldn't recommend it although others don't mind it, there office is located opposite the train station, they only do 2 trips a week so you need to book in advance if you want to use this service.

Woould the best way to drive down be to head for Chumpon then head West somewhere down that way ??

Is there no other Border Checkpoint on the way down do you know, a little bit closer ??

Hi i'm not a driver so don't know the best route however yes i do know that you head to Chumpon

As far as i am aware Ranong is the nearest exit point, not heard anyone else mention any different, there is apparently a Immigration about a hour outside of HH but the do not allow border crossing/re entry stamps there, there has been talk of them opening this checkpoint up but they have been saying it for years and nothings happened.

From HH head South. At the T junction for Chumphon take the right to Ranong. A beautiful drive over the mountains to the other side of the country. I used to do it on a Honda Wave when I lived there. A night in Chumphon then the visa run the next morning then return to HH. Ranong is OK for a night as well. Easily done in the one day if pushed for time but I like to make a trip of it :D

From Hua Hin Ranong is the first border crossing for farang. Crossings between Ranong and HH are for Myanmar and Thai nationals only.

So approx 250 km to Chumporn, turn right at Higway 4 to Ranong, is it 120 km? Slow, curvy and scenery road, wonderful by bike :)

Andaman Club is the best option and for a few baht more you get ease and luxury...850 includes transfer by boat and the $10 fee, Thais go for 80Baht so can take the partner if you want, they just show ID card.....you can stay at the club for lunch, buffet 250Baht, definate recommend that....duty free shop is cheap for ciggies and booze...they also sell milky ways and bounty bars   ..if you wanna stay the night its 1,900 with a fantastic breakfast and they refund you 150 so really only costs 1.750...the club has casino, sauna, gym, and pool.

From HH, drive to intersection at Chumphon and turn right when Ranong signposted, takes approx 5 hours and boats go every 2 hours I think....I know there is one at 11am, so leave at 5ish in the morning and you should get that one

Sounds very good, but a question 850 baht includes transfer by boat and the $10 fee.. Is that the return price ?

I paid 500 baht for the 10$ fee + 400 for the long boat + 100 baht for service for the boy helped me get in/out boat + took me the other end of the town to Immigration. to get stamped in and out.... so that is total 1,000 baht !! + found it difficult to get out of the boat as must try to climb over other boats, slide all over the place on the wood boats in the rain and choppy water

850 baht sound right for Andaman including the 10$ Myanmar visa.

Bus tour from Phuket and back including Andaman and 10$ is 18-1900 baht.

850 inclusive of everything, nothing else to pay...and you are in/out of immigration within 2 minutes, no queing or anything......best border run you can do......and its also good to stay the night over there...the buffet breakfast is the best I have had anywhere in SE Asia...sat there almost 3 hours stuffing my face with muffins and bacon butties.....yum yum

Thanks will try that next time i go down that way

Again as has been said above would highly recommend the Andaman option, the long tail boats are a nightmare especially if it's a choppy day on the sea [had a girl i didn't know clinging to me in sheer terror as she was convinced we were going to capsize one time and i must admit i was a little scared myself]

The Andaman option makes a journey which quite frankly a pain in the butt a little more pleasurable.
