Wife Settlement Visa Due To Expire

Featured Replies

My wife’s UK settlement visa is due to expire in July.

Can anybody advise me what is the best visa to replace this with as we decided not to live in the UK due to economic climate and in fact now only visit the UK maybe once or twice a year and then only for a couple of weeks at a time.

To complicate things I don't have a permanent UK address now and my accountant receives all my bank and ILR papers.

I'm currently working in Russia and return to Thailand every 4 or 5 weeks.

Thanks

As she is no longer living in the UK and only intends to make visits in the future then she is not entitled to ILR or any type of settlement visa.

All she can replace it with is a visit visa. Given your circumstances she will probably be able to obtain a 10 year one; see VAT1.4 Visa validity - What period for a multiple entry visit visa?

Does she live in Russia with you? If so, she should apply in Russia (see here). If she is living in Thailand then she applies there (see here).

Thanks for that 7by7, a 10 year visa would save a lot of hassle.

No she doesn't stay in Russia with me. She wasn't impressed much by the weather, culture or the food during her brief visit last month. I only work here and return to Thailand every 8 weeks for 2 weeks.

A visit visa I would initially apply for a 2 year visit visa.
