Medicial Insurance Needed For My Girfriend And Her Children..

Featured Replies

Been looking into Insuring my Thai GF and her kids and I'll pay the monthley premiums.....

the medium priced plans for woman in 30's and two young children included in plan dental not needed.

International plans seem to be the way to go but very pricey with lots of diferent and confusing options..

?? Does any body know of this service in Thailand a reasonably priced family insurance plan ??

There are several new plans coming onto the market which may be suitable for your partner and her children but you will have greater choice if you also insure with them.

As a member of Thai Visa you may use the Thai Visa Brokerage service so for an on line quote please go HERE

You should check with a broker. Start with Thai Visa's broker, since they help pay for this forum. Then check with other brokers if you want. It doesn't cost you anything to do so. They also offer international options. As for getting advice from a forum, listen to it, but take it with "a grain of salt." A good broker can help you better and offer you educated support. Of course, there are bad brokers, also.

Okay. Bupa is probably the closest to what you are looking for, in terms of offering monthly premiums. But, you have to have a credit card (not debit card) from a Thai bank. Bupa also offers a family discount. Remember, you got this from a forum. Now,take this information with a grain of salt and verify it with your broker.. .

A very important thing when getting new insurance for loved ones is to make sure that they are completely honest with the insurance company in declaring pre-existing conditions, including conditions they are not aware of.

This means making true and diligent effort to get their records from all previous hospital/clinic visits. Cannot be done the "thai" way.

We/they may think it helps to "unintentionally but conveniently" omit past history; but the moment you make a big claim from the insurance company for something very expensive(ex. cancer), you can be sure the insurance company will dig very long and deep to look for any "mis-declarations" to use it as a reason for not paying up; even if the the pre-existing condition is not related to the current condition.

Unfortunately, I haven't had good experience with a Thai health insurance company while being honest in this regard. By merely putting "the occasional stomach ache every now and then" and gastroenteritis hospitalization as a child more than 25 years ago, I was excluded for anything related to stomach.

I'm now using an international insurance company which covers ALL pre-existing conditions after 24 months of continuous coverage, as long as it was properly declared on the application. Lifetime coverage? 5 million DOLLARS (that's USD!) but only 50,000 if it's for the pre-existing conditions (that's still more than 1 million baht!)

Of course, they may decline your application if you had too many pre-existing conditions (I dunno). How much did it cost? Cheaper than Thai government social security payment (but maybe because I'm young, and I chose a 1,000 USD deductible which I can easily afford; as it's only 30K baht. *For social security payment, I mean both employer+employee share; as I own my own company and can choose to not be covered by it).

Direct payment to Thai hospitals? Only for some accredited ones; for others, it's reimbursement insurance. Of course, it's also not without complaints (as I believe all insurance companies would have; insurance is by nature a "dispute-prone" business between client and customer).
