Beware: if you going to fly with Thai Airways, Bkk - Ubon - Bkk (domestic), make sure you buy a return ticket in Bangkok before you depart, directly from the Thai Airways desk at the suvarnabhumi airport. Will only cost you 2,600 baht one way. From any agent in the city they will charge you 2,900 baht (of now). In Ubon i wanted to buy a ticket at the Thai Airways agent in the airport to return Bkk - got a shock, one way price is 3,200 baht, but 3 weeks earlier I got a ticket for only 2,600 baht from the same agent; surprise, maybe because I was a falang! Well, I opted out from Thai Airways and took Air Asia for only 2,300 baht. I have not travelled with Nok Air but I heard they are cheaper also.

ticket prices change from time to time. they are not always same. and travel agents may charge you 100 or 200 baht more. next time you better buy your ticket from their website cheaper

Why would anyone ever use a travel agent for a domestic flight? All the info you need is but a click or phone call to TG away........the click fare is usually100 baht cheaper than the call.

I think you will find that the agent at Ubon airport in not TG, they are contracted by TG. The agent calls TG and makes a booking. Of course they need to make a profit.

conscious or cautious? Or were you unconscious when you dealt with the agent? :D

But you are flying with "Asia's First Boutique Airline" so pay up and enjoy your 'boutique' cold chicken(?) burger served with 'boutique' orangeade in a very collectible 'boutique' paper cup.

A quick check shows that TG have six (6) Economy fare buckets for BKK-UBP:

Hot Deal 2,535 W bucket

Saver 2,885 V bucket

Saver Plus 3,060 Q bucket

Flex Saver 3,240 H bucket

Flex Saver Plus 3,415 M bucket

Full Flex 3,825 Y bucket

Fare buckets have different rules for changes, cancellations, mileage accrual, return date, ad nauseum. Economy fare buckets go from YBMHQVWSKLT, most expensive/least restrictive (Y) to least expensive/most restrictive (T). Not all fare buckets are aoffered on all city-pairs.

Prices also vary by day of week. When one fare bucket sells out, or you are unable to meet the requirements (APEX, advance purchase), you have to “buy up” to the next available and applicable fare bucket. Nothing nefarious, other than standard airline pricing tactics, here.

Personally I buy domestic tickets from a travel agent who matches or beats published prices.

Easiest way to buy domestic flight tickets is to but directly from the airline. You can be more sure comparing buying from agents. They provide you with customer service + others which you will be more comfortable. dealing with. They won't cheat or take advantage over the passenger.:)
