Anyone have experience using and seeing a doctor at Chulalongkorn University hospital?

Went to Chula Hospital today, stood on line for 30 minutes and told by the screening nurse that I couldn't see the doctor because of a meeting. They told me they have an after hours clinic in the evenings and weekend where you can make an appointment and 420 baht to see the doctor. If I want to make an appointment to see the doctor in the morning they said I would have to wait 2 months or come to the hospital at 6 am, wait in line and take my chances. The clinic sounds good to me. Is the after hours doctors the same as the morning ones? Anyone use this hospital? It has the reputation of being one of the best.

The Hospital is one of the best government run facilities with some of the best Doctors in the country. But as you have found out highly oversubscribed and most facilities and doctors over worked and under paid. It is a teaching facility so in most cases it is a team approach rather than a specific doctor so one visit you may see 'a' who works for 'b' and the next time 'c'. Believe the private for profit facilities (they have at least one set up in housing area to rear) much better value and you then have a specific doctor. Even with inside connections calling in favors getting normal service can be extremely time consuming. Some of the same doctors also have hours at private hospitals where you would have more opportunity for one-on-one treatment if you can afford normal fees.

Chulalongkorn is one of the best universities in Thailand. Doctors who graduate from this university are properly qualified. Actually a lot of doctors from here are also working at other famous expensive private hospitals which you have to pay much much more for. The problem is since most specialists and professors are cramped up in this hospital,it has to take all serious cases referred from smaller hospitals from all over the country. Thats why the queue takes forever. I went to after hours clinic ,paid a lil extra ,saw a good doctor and got the same medicine as i got from BNH hospital in a much much cheaper cost. Go there around 4 pm to register and to make sure you will get to see the doctor on that day. ( Even for the after hours clinic, doctors can be pretty bz too.
