Ed Visa Help

Featured Replies

I want to apply for an ED visa to study Thai language in Bangkok (I'm from Europe but will apply in Hong Kong).

I know where to go and what to do BUT...

I have a business in Hong Kong but I don't have to be there all the time. I usually go to Hong Kong every other month for a few days but sometimes I have to stay there longer (a few weeks to about two months).

I know when I get an ED visa I'm supposed to go to the Immigration Dept. in Bangkok every three months to get a stamp. But what if I'm outside of country at that moment? Or what about if I get an ED visa but will go to Hong Kong 6-8 times during that year..?

I need some more info on how it works...

Many thanks!

It can be done but you have to use the Thai Circumlocution Office

No you could not do that as you must be in Thailand to apply for new extensions of stay at set times. And any travel would require re-entry permit prior to travel so be a pain and extra charge. Sounds as if you would be best served with tourist or multi entry non immigrant B visa based on your job - you do not have to be here on an ED visa to study.

The alternative would be if you could obtain a multi entry ED visa but suspect Hong Kong would only issue single entry.

Thanks very much for your reply.

I knew it wouldn't be easy but this is too much hassle for me. I think I'll continue to come on tourist visas and wait, maybe I'll be able to come to Thailand and stay for a year or two in the future...
