First Marraige Extension Visa

Featured Replies

I am a Pattaya based Brit and im about to apply for my first marraige visa based on my marraige to my Thai wife.

I currently am on a 1 yr multiple O visa issued at Hull.

On the application form it says" letter of certification issued by the embassy attesting that a person had not registered his marraige prior to Marraige"

Can anyone tell me what this means, and what i have to do to satisfy immigration. Surely if i have my kor ror2 and 3 then that proves im legally married.

They (that office) wants a copy of the Embassy issued paper you presented to District Office to marry. The office can supply you a copy if you do not have (like most of us - who don't have).

I had to supply that years ago in Samui but not since.

The affirnation or Freedom to Marry paper you got from our Embassy.

Pattaya Immigration is requesting this certification ?

This certification is not part of the official required papers for an extension based on marriage and should not be necessary.

Looks like Pattaya Immigration is making up their own rules. :whistling:

Well, at Cheang Wattana they asked for the Free to Marry Letter as well when we did our extension application.

It is not an official requirement, just a "<deleted> you" requirement when all documents are correct and in order first time.

The "official" reason being that some KR2 and KR3 docs are forged sometimes. Well, an affirmation letter can be forged too then...

an affirmation letter can be forged too

But it has gone through a process to check for that, and is on file at the MFA prior to presentation at District Office so very unlikely.
