Two Czechs wanted for bank robbery arrested by Thai police

Thai immigration police have arrested two Czechs who are wanted for having robbed a money truck of the Czech central bank in 2008.

Immigration Police Bureau Commissioner Pol Lt Gen Wibul Bangthamai told a press conference that Josef Blazek, 32, and Rudolf Tesarek, 35, have been arrested at Robinson Department Store in Chon Buri's Sriracha district.

Wibul said the two robbed a money truck on January 17 2008 and made off with 3 million euros. They were arrested and sentenced to 12 years in jail but they fled while appealing against the ruling.

Wibul said Thai police learned that the two sneaked into Thailand from Laos in August 2010 and were hunting for them until one of them contacted their Czech wife to meet them at the department store.

surely an email gmail account would 100% better option. Not sticking up for them but if you got away with 3 mill euros you should plan better

No, but a high possibility to be behind Swedish steel bars for a while.............:jap:

I think those 12 years will still be 12 years and it is just the way you see it. They had a lot of time to hide the money but still they had to look over their shoulder for the rest of their life.So now that the money is safe they go to jail and serve maybe 7-8 years or less of their sentence and then are free to go wherever they want.Money still available.

Czech fugitives held in Thailand

BANGKOK, May 20, 2011 (AFP) - Thai immigration authorities on Friday said they had arrested two fugitive bank robbers who had been jailed for stealing more than $4 million from a Czech security van.

Josef Blazek, 32, and Rudolf Tesarek, 35, were both sentenced to 12 years in prison for the raid in January 2008 but fled their native country during a temporary release from prison.

The pair were arrested in Chon Buri in eastern Thailand on May 13 following a tip off from Czech police, which led Thai officers to tail Blazek's pregnant girlfriend when she entered the country.

"We knew that he was in Thailand but didn't know exactly where. His girlfriend led us to him," said Major General Manu Mekmok, an investigator with immigration police.

Blazek and Tesarek originally entered Thailand last August, police said.

Both men were charged with overstaying their visa, which carries a maximum penalty of two years in prison, and authorities plan to extradite them to the Czech Republic after their trail in Thailand.

Two Czechs arrested for 2 million Euro heist

BANGKOK, May 20 -- Thailand's Immigration Police Bureau arrested two Czechs with outstanding arrest warrants from the Czech Republic and Interpol for a 2 million Euro bank cash delivery robbery in 2008.

Josef Blazek, 32, and Rudolf Tesarek, 35, were arrested at a Robinson Department Store in the eastern province of Chonburi's Sriracha district.

The two men are being held under arrest warrants from the Hradec Kralove Court and Interpol.

They robbed a cash-delivery vehicle of the Czech central bank on Jan 17, 2008 taking 3 million euros (Bt126 million) before they were arrested and sentenced to 12 years in jail. However, they jumped bail while appealing the court's verdict.

The Thai Immigration Police Bureau coordinated with Interpol and found that the two men had entered Thailand from Laos in August 2010 and successfully tracked down them through clues from contact between Mr Tesarek and his Czech wife who is three months pregnant.

His wife arrived in Thailand last Friday and made an appointment to meet him at a department store to show him an ultrasound film image of their baby.

Police initially charged the two men with overstaying in the kingdom and would extradite them to stand trial on robbery charges in the Czech Republic.

Czech duo wanted for robbery nabbed

By The Nation

Two Czech nationals were arrested in Chon Buri's Sri Racha district for allegedly stealing Euro 3 million (Bt129 million) from a security agency's armoured van in their country two years ago.

Josef Blazek, 32, and Rodolf Tesarek, 35, were apprehended at a shopping mall for illegally entering Thailand from Laos, immigration police said. The duo were initially charged with illegal entry and overstaying their visa, pending possible handover to Czech police.

Both suspects had been sentenced to 12 years in jail by a Czech court, before they jumped bail and fled. They arrived in Laos last August, and entered Thailand on May 13.

Both men were known for their victory in a European strength competition and were seeking to practise Muay Thai in a number of local gyms before they were arrested.

According to an online Czech newspaper, the Czech Republic and Thailand do not have an extradition treaty. This is why the extradition of the two men would have to be based on a mutual ad hoc agreement, Czech Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Tereza Paleckova said.

"The Czech Republic would have to pledge that it would extradite a detained [Thai] person to Thailand in a similar case," she said.

"....contacted their Czech wife."

So, were they both married to the same wife? Hmmm, guess they were husbands-in-law.

His wife arrived in Thailand last Friday and made an appointment to meet him at a department store to show him an ultrasound film image of their baby.

Guess it wasn't really sure who the father was.....lol

An ultrasound film image is impossible to send via e-mail. But, if he's the producer, when did they do that?

Czech's paradise on ice......................:jap:

The big fellow does not seem to have lost too much weight during his travels in Asia. He looks like he occupies space for 2 or 3 at the table. He could be in top man in the Thai prison cell, A good stand up finger pointing session by the police is needed to get the size into prospective.
