Non-O Marriage Single Entry But Leaving For A Week

Featured Replies

I just ran across the border and got a non-o marriage visa, but haven't gone to immigration to extend it yet. In my infinite wisdom I failed to make sure the "No of entry" was M, and instead it says S.

Now I have to leave LOS to go back to the states for a week.

This is the first time I've gotten this visa, so I don't know what I should (or can) do. Can I simply go to immigration monday and change it to multi-entry? Do I need to re-apply for another non-o in the states? Something else?

Thanks for the advice.

You can get a re-entry permit from immigration, 1000 Baht for a single 3600 for a multi. This will protect your current permission to stay (it does not add any time to the stamp) so when you return you won't have lost the visa.

If you just plan one trip out to the US a single is the way to go.

What you're saying is that I can go to immigration on Monday and get a single or multi? Is this the extension that requires the two signed photocopies of all the supporting documents?

It is NOT an extension, it is a permit to leave the country and re-enter without losing your current permission to stay.

IIRC Just needs the form and a photograph.

NOTE when you return put the re-entry permit number in the 'visa number' box on the arrival card.

Thank you for your help Crossy

If you go that route be sure to right the Re Entry Permit number on the TM6 Entry Card

or it may get missed and you only get 30 days.

If you will have funds to extend your stay on yearly basis after your return (40k per month or 400k in bank account 2 months0, and will not be leaving again within the 30 days required for approval, the re-entry is a good option - when down to 30 days remaining you can then extend for one year and no further border trips would be required.

But as you had intended a multi entry visa not sure you qualify for extension of stay and if must use multi entry just leave and obtain a new multi entry in the US prior to return. Easier to obtain there than locally.
