Changing Jobs In A New Province

Featured Replies

Please help!

I have been working for the same company for over 2 years now. My Non-Immigrant Visa was extended a few weeks ago for 1 year. In 10 days I will change jobs to a new province with a different company.

The company I am currently working for has informed me that they will cancel my Visa and Work Permit on the day I resign. The have also informed me that I will have to leave the country at that time (on that day) or I will have an overstay penalty. They stated that Phuket immigration informed them that they no longer give 7 day extensions. This seems ridiculous as I have another job to go to.

The lawyer for the new company has just begun the process for the new Work Permit. This will take about 2 weeks according to the ministry office. My last day off work is May 31.

Is there any other way I can do this without leaving the country to apply for a new Non-Imm B Visa? With the 7 day extension I would have time to go to the new province to apply for the visa.

Has anyone been told that they cannot get a 7 day extension?

Thank you

No known policy change is known. You should be able to get a 7 day under consideration stamp when you go to immigration to cancel your permission to stay.

They might be mistaken in that there is no longer a 7 day window to leave the country for free since 2006.
