webfact
Cambodia Dismisses Knowledge about Thaksin Entering Country With speculations about a possible return of the ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra, possibly to neighboring Cambodia, during the general election, the Cambodian information minister insists he has no knowledge of any such plan. In an article posted yesterday on the Phnom Penh Post website, Information Minister Khieu Kanharith was asked whether ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra will be permitted to enter Cambodia during the Thai general election in which his sister is the Pheu Thai Party’s leading candidate for the premiership. Khieu stated that he has not received any requests from Thaksin regarding his possible entry into Cambodia. Cambodian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Koi Kuang also insisted that he has not received any information regarding Thaksin either. He declined to further comment on the issue. In a statement at the Cambodian Cabinet meeting last Friday, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said that he will not allow foreigners or foreign political organizations to use Cambodia as a base to attack or overthrow the government of any foreign country. Thaksin is known to have close ties with Hun Sen and the appointment of Thaksin to an economic advisor post by Hun Sen sparked a conflict between the two countries up until when Thaksin resigned from the position. -- Tan Network 2011-05-

Misterwhisper
Why would Thaksin be required to "request" entering Cambodia by contacting a ministry anyway? And even if he were there at the moment, why would Cambodia feel it necessary to confirm his presence? After all, he and Hun Sen are old buddies and go waaaay back... siampolee
According to that which we hear from assorted sources Arisman took a trip to Cambodia and it would appear, again according to popular belief, Arisman died as a result of acute lead poisoning due to contracting a fatal infection of, " bang bang fever." '' We could I presume only but hope that Brother No.1 might well contract the dreaded '' bang bang fever'' which preceded acute lead poisoning. Said affliction does indeed seem to become somewhat more acute at election time. In fact I am sure we have had two very recent outbreaks of the aforementioned fever. However we lesser mortals tend not to suffer from " bang bang fever, " as it seems to be an afflictive matter that is decidedly contagious amongst the political animal species Corruptus Vulgarisclass when they are absent from their Bangkok nest and in mating mood with the common masses. Would a Thai passport permit him to enter Cambodia without visa? 1. Yes. Does that apply for Montenegrins and Nicaraguans? Will it still apply if he carries a diplomatic passport? (I have never heard of a diplomatic visa on arrival, but I am willing to learn.) 2. Yes. I'm not sure he still carries a valid Thai passport though, maybe you want to enlighten us. But whatever the legal situation: If he wants to enter Cambodia, it will be made possible.

Visa On Arrival except for Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Bangladesh, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Sudan 2. Passport holders from Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore are permitted to enter Cambodia without visa. http://www.recambodia.net/visa-requirements.php As long Thaksins passport isn't from Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Bangladesh, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Sudan he will get a Visa On Arrival. I remembered that there was a big issue that Thailand and Cambodia started visa exemption about two months ago or so, and yes, the Cambodia Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms this: http://www.mfaic.gov.kh/evisa/ FWIW my colleague from Cambodia was also in Thailand last week and didn't need a visa. No Thai passport --- no reports of other SEA passports ... a VoA is still a visa ... and a private plane must declare flight plans AND passenger manifests .... As gk note Thaksin is loved by millions of Thais ... and hated by millions .... and even more millions just don't care.
Puccini
It won't be a Thai passport And the passport won't be in the name of Thaksin Shinawatra, wherefore Cambodian officials can truthfully say that they have no knowledge of the presence of such person in Cambodia.
