Report Thailand Tightens Alcohol Sales: New Rules Take Effect
Puccini replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
If with gms you mean g (grammes, US English: grams), with my bodyweight of 62 kg (kilogrammes), 5 g of alcohol per kg bodyweight would be 310 g alcohol. With a typical alcohol density of 0.789 g/mL (gramme per millilitre), this is 392 mL. The red wine of which I drank 250 mL with dinner last night contains 14.5% alcohol, ie I consumed 36.25 mL alcohol. If I got the calculation right, that's 9.25% of the potentially lethal dose of 5 g per kg bodyweight you mentioned. -

The problems involved in being "mixed race" in Thailand
Puccini replied to JAG's topic in General Topics
I can't understand why a father refers to his child of mixed race as "Lok khreung". -
I tried to get a Google translation of that. Google detected that it was in Mizo language but managed to translate only one word: chu = that's

It's commonly used in online shopping. For example, if a product is posted, we would comment "CF," which means we are ordering it.»

Finance Foreign Nationals Face Account Bans in Bangkok Bank Crackdown
Puccini replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
BBL is the symbol for Bangkok Bank Limited on the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET). It is akin to using MSFT for Microsoft Corporation. Stock symbols, aka ticker symbols, are best avoided outside stock investment forums. -
Tourism Thailand’s Bold Pride Boost: Aiming for Top LGBTQ+ Destination

I feel discriminated. Never have I seen a TAT campaign specifically designed to coax heterosexual tourists to visit Thailand. -
Both Trump and Musk knew from the outset that Musk could be employed as "an unpaid special government employee" for a maximum of 130 days. Source: https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c23vkd57471o Source: https://www.euronews.com/2025/04/03/as-his-employment-limit-nears-elon-musk-could-be-leaving-doge-soon Earlier, I read somewhere — forgot where — that subsequently, part-time employment is allowed for a limited period, forgot how long and can't find a source for it now. Musk was quoted as mentioning the 130-limit only yesterday, https://www.cbsnews.com/news/elon-musk-on-doge-trump-administration-and-responsibility-for-cuts/ Trump apparently never mentioned it.

Health COVID-19 Cases in Thailand Surge to Ten Times Flu Levels
Puccini replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
How does Dr Thira get the numbers? A person gets flu-like symptoms and does a Covid-19 test at home with a test strip left over from the pandemic. If the test is negative, most stay at home and treat themselves with paracetamol or Decolgen and/or some herbal product and and asn anti-congestant nasal spray, but a few go to see a doctor, for example at the outpatient department (OPD) of Chulalongkorn hospital, where an influenza infection is diagnosed. If the test is positive, they all go to see a doctor, for example at the OPD of Chulalongkorn hospital, where a second test confirms a Covid-19 infection. Then, Dr Thira divides the number of positive Covid-19 cases by the number of positive influenza cases and gets 10 as a result. Unscientific reseach Dr. Thira style. -
Video Transwoman Plans Escape to Thailand Amid UK's Anti-Trans Atmosphere

I have a splendid idea. The press and other media should use the term trans individual, both for a transwoman and a transman, and the neutral pronouns it and its. Voilà, communication problem solved. -
Video Transwoman Plans Escape to Thailand Amid UK's Anti-Trans Atmosphere
Puccini replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
There are so many stages in transing or transgendering or transiting or whatever else it may also be called that every time I read the word "transwoman", I am left wondering whether I am reading about a person with a penis or a person with a vagina. P.S. Having now read to the end of the news article, I can stop being puzzled in this case. The trans individual in question is still pondering about having gender-assignment surgery. -
