Bank Account For Marriage Visa

Featured Replies

Hi

I understand that there needs to be a minimum of 400,000 baht in a bank account a minimum of 3 months prior to the application.

I have a question about the bank account though.

Is anyone else having problems being allowed to open a bank account without a work permit?

I have tried 4 or 5 banks now and each time I am told you must have a work permit.

I try to explain the situation, but the bank staff seem a little nonplussed about it all.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Brad

The money in the bank has to be there for 2 months.

Banks will open a savings account without you having a work permit.

Some bank staff either do not know this or can't be bothered to deal with it.

Just keep trying or ask to speak to the manager.

Kasikorn Bank are usually helpful.

i opened a bangkok bank account last year. i am on a '0' type imm visa to see my girlfriend. my girlfriend came with me to the bank. She also had an account there and signed a paper to say that she knew me. We also had a rental agreement with us for our house. i was given an ATM card there and then

i would suggest taking your girlfriend to your bank. Though i think different banks have different policies

I opened a savings account while on a tourist visa, Bangkok Bank head office on Silom. No problems at all.
