Dehumidifiers

Featured Replies

Does anyone have info on dehumidifiers here? I haven't seen any shops that carry them and I haven't seen anything in the forums. It seems SE Asia would be a good market for them, especially if they had air filtering capabilities. If nothing's available in Thailand, I'm thinking of shipping one in but we all now the drawbacks there; import tax, shipping cost, 110V-220V, etc...

Thanks in advance for your help!

I think that they call those air conditioners here in Thailand. Some models also have air filters.

Check for the DRY setting on the AC.

How dry do you want the air to be ? I'm in Bangkok at the moment and with my regular A/C which has no 'dry mode' turned on the relative humidity is about 65% at 75 degrees Fahrenheit according to my hygrometer / thermometer.

I thought that a dehumidifier condensing and collecting the water would be a little more efficient then running ac units, which I can only take so much of. I'm renting a place with cheaper ac units (no dry selection or filter), so the next place I get into will be upgraded with these better units you guys have turned me on to.

Thanks for the info!

you are right about the efficiency. what you did not take into consideration is that a dehumidifier will efficiently heat up your place. and that's not exactly what you want in a tropical country.
