May 30, 201115 yr Hello, I just wanna ask if there is any possibility that a Filipina nurse can be given a work permit? A family in Thailand hired me as a care giver to their very sick grandmother and I ony know that in order to work as a nurse in Thailand, you must have a Thai nursing license but I only know this if you will work in the hospital, I am not sure if you still need this if you will work as a private nurse, anyhow the family still want to hire me. I only know that company, hotel, hospital or school are usually the one who can give you this but for a family, I don't know. Can they apply a work permit for me?
May 30, 201115 yr Believe a family can indeed be your employer. But for a nurse you might indeed must be licensed in Thailand. Also there must be a need to hire a foreign nurse, as oposed to a Thai nurse. Language could be a could reason for that. A care taker might not need to be a nurse, but it all depends on the qualifications you legally would need for the actual care you give. Washing a patient is something else than administring medication.

My understanding is that in some cases you can write the JD to look like a consultant position rather than a 'normal' position. Whether this is possible in the circumstances you describe is of course another question? Is it worth exploring this point with a professional business consulting agency which has long and broad experience with preparing such documentation?
