Linux Programs Exchange

Featured Replies

Hello people,

A lot of people ask me I have Linux running, but I need programs to do what I want.

Therefore maybe we can make a topic on how to get it and make it work....

Many people have still "older" Windows programs they want to run, what programs are that and what do we do to make it work?

hi'

you're right, so many users get lost just because the program doesn't have the same "generic" name ...

for example, to butn a cd, some use nero or roxio or else, in Linux it's K3b, and it does a perfect job :o

same for grafics, linux have viewer for all formats, you need to use the gimp and what's the big difference between the gimp and the others? the interface!

I could go on and on, just look in the program menu, there is all you need :D

and for the "nostalgic" of widows, there is still wine and wineX :D

so, you may run quite a lot of programs from windows, but you need to have them install on a windows partition, so why choosing Linux?
