Need Help(Advice) Getting Us Visa For Thai Wife

Featured Replies

At the beginning of May I purchased 2 plane tickets for June 20 from Bangkok to Washington DC for a 3 week trip to visit my family.

My wife is Thai but we have a Daughter who is a US citizen with a US passport. Also we were married in the US, and lived there together for 5 years.

My wife had a green card but it was canceled.

She currently needs a Visa to get into the US. I paid $140 fees and spend several hours putting her info into the online appointment system.

3 weeks passed and no appointments. Last Monday we went to the Embassy in person they told us to keep checking the website. I have send

numerous emails to places at the US Embassy and get only automated replies.

Currently the appointments show full through July. The only help that one can get is for a person who already has an appointment(not me).

This is an absolute nightmare and shame on the US Embassy.

Any good advice on this one??

Moved to the correct forum.

You can try requesting an expedited appointment, might work, might not:

How to Request an Expedited Interview

The Embassy provides expedited visa services to business travelers, educational/exchange travelers as well as travelers with medical, family, or other emergencies, on a case-by-case basis.

Hope you've read other such threads on this forum wherein it's advised that your wife have lots of evidence as to YOUR ties to Thailand, such as work, car, long-term presence here, annual Non-O visa extensions, etc. Important to show YOUR ties as it'll be assumed that if you're going to return, your wife most likely will too.

FYI, need to overcome a presumption that your wife wants to get a new green card.

I'm curious, you say her green card was canceled?

Did she stay out of the US for more than the allowed time?
