I'm flying from Bangkok to USA next week and I want to take a bag of cashew nuts with me. I checked the US Customs website and they mentioned fruits, vegies, meats etc but nothing about nuts. Anyone know if they can be taken to the US from Thailand?

If they are "processed" nuts (cooked or even removed from the shell) then you are ok.

The restrictions are on raw fruits, veggies and meats.

cashew nuts

just wonder,

did you run into some sort of special cashew or something?

did this special cashew nuts taste extraordinarily sweet or something....?

many years ago, i'd to deposit many other kinds into trash in Hawaii....

but you might get away in mainland,

hope you do. have a safe trip and enjoy.

The cashews I'm getting are baked and without salt. And they are much cheaper here then in the US.

I had problem with lighters in check-in bag.I had 5 souvenir lighters.Scanner detected them, bag was pulled out after check -in.

I could have only 3,I had to remove 2.I cheated ;sticking them all together, fooling scanner.

And souvenir fridge magnets! Be warned, not only will your bags be pulled and the magnets removed, they will flag you FOREVER in their ICE computers as a ne'er-do-well and have the fudgy finger probe on a secondary inspection on arrival in Land of the Free, Home of the Paranoid. Then they will hand you over to Customs who have even bigger hands!

However, if you fly with a non- US carrier, you can leave the batteries in your toys!
