Southern Thai

Featured Replies

wondering if anyone knows where i can find some useful resources on learning the southern dialect. if even the resources exist??

but I should add, I learned mine simply by picking it up and listening.

listening very very hard and asking lots of questions!

The link now is: http://www.learningthai.com/southern-dialect/index.php

(I'm assuming that it's the southern dialect of Thai that the OP is interested in, not the local Jawi language of the moslem majority which is totally unrelated to Thai.)

Thanks! I've been learning by just picking it up too, but I get confused sometimes about what is pasa klang and what is pasa tai :) I'm a much better learner when I can see it in front of me, and though I can have conversations, I'd like to be fluent :)

Great links :) thank you.

I think I need to seriously start studying and listening a bit harder. Any tips on this? Or is it just listen hard, question and try to learn? Does it help to learn to read/write the language first? I'm not too bothered about that, I just want to be able to speak - but if it makes it easier perhaps I should?
