3Rd Mae Sai Border Run

Featured Replies

My last two visas were overland through Mae Sai and expires on June 12. I fly out to the US on the 23rd where I will be applying for a O visa. When I crossed back over on May 29th we were some of the last people to go through immigration and the officer came out and asked me all sorts of questions about where I stayed in Thailand my phone # etc. He then told me to get a tourist visa like I had before from Lao. So my question is can I go back to Mae Sai tomorrow and get 14 days?

Thanks

Yes, there is no limit on the number of entries you can do.

Are you sure

2 Americans both well known to me and old long term thai stayers told me

Mae Sai is 4 strikes and yer out go Laos

I do not use such visas but many here do

As I said, there is no official limit.

That doesn't mean that immirgation might become suspicious if one continues to stay in Thailand on visa exempt entries and can ask starting question as to what you are doing in Thailand. Especially to make sure that you are not working illegaly.

But haven't seen many reports about that. There is a thread dedicated to Mai Sai crossings: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/147481-mae-saitachilek-border-info/

One can check that one for up to date reports.

Sorry, first try failed, slow internet

yes there is a restriction, I did many 30 day runs to Mae Sot. One day I was told that there is a restriction. After this they begun to number my VAO stamps and after 3 it was time to go to Vientiane to make a proper visa. After they changed the rules to only 15 days they where more relaxed wit this and a friend of mine went for 15 days stamps to mae sai for at least 2 years. The regulations are one day activated and the next day mayby not. I never heard of any people beeing rejected at Mae Sai and as far at they leave you out they must let you in because what other options would be open? Stay forever in Tachilek? At Moe Sot, this is closed for more than a year now, so no news on Mae Sot. Just check on your VOA stamp if there is a number hand written and if so please be prepared for the worst.

Good luck

forgot to add,

always add your full address in Thailand including your/ or your girlfriends phone number onto your TM card. Not just Kamphenphet/ Thailand

House number, Tambun, Ampeor, Province AND Telephone, lots of problems solved with 15/30 days stamps.
