New Passport, What Happens To O Visa?

Featured Replies

My Passport is full to the last page (the last empty page was used up by my 1 year multiple entry "O" visa for Thailand.

I have an appointment next week with the Swiss embassy and will get a new passport.

What happens to my brand new Thai O visa (for which I paid 175 USD prior to this trip) when my passport with the visa will be anulled?

any advise?

thank you

Immigration will transfer your entry details to the new passport, but not the actual visa. You just keep the old passport, the visa in it will still be valid. But he permission to stay will go in the new passport. Once the visa is expired you no longer need the old passport.

thanks for the information. One more question; can I do the transfer of entry details at Pattaya immigration or do I have to do it in Bangkok?

I will stay 2-3 days in Bangkok when I pick up my new passport.

Recent reports I have read indicate Bangkok may no longer transfers normal visa entry to new passport and you just carry both and do at exit. Expect for extensions of stay they still do the transfer. But have not seen any official word on this so best to ask your Embassy (they are supposed to provide a letter to Immigration and instructions).
