British tennis champs go to court - the High Court - over land deal on Phuket

Former British champion Greg Rusedski

claimed he has been back-handed by former

British champion David Lloyd and wants

to know where his money has gone.

PHUKET: -- British former tennis champions Greg Rusedski and David Lloyd are locked in a legal battle over a land deal on a so called ‘Millionaire’s Row’ in Phuket.

This one’s not going to Centre Court but the High Court in London where Rusedski has issued writes to find out what happened to his £725,000 deposit.

Lloyd is insulted at the inherent slur and puts it down to the recession and political troubles in Thailand.

The row highlights Phuket’s ongoing development problems. Some 20 development companies are being taken through the courts in Thailand by angry buyers.

David Lloyd’s site at Cape Sawan is only an artist’s impression but he promises it will be up by next year.

Elsewhere in Phuket investors have had to move into virual building sites after developers have run out of cash to complete.

Too bad, never read the rules about Thailand never invest more than you can walk away from.and a few more not worth repeating.

Writs not writes (ahem)

There is also some law here that says you cannot build on a slope past a certain degrees. That Millionaire's Mile is certainly illegal, on too sharp a slope and at any time the authorities could pull the rug out from beneath if they wanted to.

The property business in Phuket is dodgy at best....................

I thought farangs couldn't own land in Thailand :whistling:

I would take Mr. Rusedski's allegations with caution. I consider him to be an opportunist. I'm not taking a dig at him for the convenient change of nationalities to further his tennis career as I recognize that others have done the same, but he has never struck me as an affable likeable chap. And yes, I have met the fellow. I also know a bit about him. And no I'm not running him down, just hoping that before everyone jumps on David Lloyd, that they keep in mind that Rusedski had access to legal counsel and qualified accountants. Now whether or not he sought advice, i.e. was willing to pay for it, or if he followed that advice is a different story.

And NEVER use the word "invest" and "Thailand" in the same sentence. :) :)

Mr. Rusedski has made no allegations as far as I know other than he has handed over cash and has not go it back.. This does not apppear to be disputed. Whether he is affable in your book is by the by and certainly no cause for disbelief. You are running him down btw. Lloyd is stacked up with lawyers here I am sure.

The property business in Thailand is riddled with Farang crooks. They are worse than Thais. I lost Bt6 million to a Brit real estate agent.
